The home of the largest number of Garinagu teachers of Belize is Seine Bight Village. Seine Bight Village has been known by many names, the one most frequently used being the "Home of Young Intelligent Folks". The village holds the reputation as the home of the largest number of Garifuna teachers of Belize.
In the 1920's and the 1930's most of the Garifuna teachers of British
Honduras (now Belize) were found in Seine Bight. The man responsible for the cultivation of that brood of teachers was Mr. Simeon Sampson, Sr. who spent twenty-three years of his teaching career as Seine Bight Village teacher. They served their country and contributed with remarkable sense of duty and honor. Seine Bight Teachers

If you recall Mr. Hyde, there was never a Mr. Nemhard in Maskall, but if you ask many Maskallites, the name Patrocinio Enriquez will ring a bell. There are facts about the contributions of Garinagu teachers in the country of Belize that are not mentioned in our Belizean history. Does the curriculum of Belize mention that Mr. C.J. Augustine was the first Garifuna Education Officer of Belize? I am almost certain that these facts are not discussed in the school system in Belize. There are many other situations that can be discussed about the contributions of Garinagu's to the educational growth of Belize. To mention an example, Mr. Steven Castillo was a Garifuna teacher in the Corozal District for many years. He taught Florencio Marin who is a Minister in the Government of Belize. Personally, As a Garifuna, I find this very upsetting and I suggest that in the future you gather your information before making such statements. I have compiled a list of Garinagu's who have contributed to Belize's educational system. To mention a few, Clifford Palacio, Eugene Hernandez, Winston Nunez, Dudley Augustine, Mr. Laurie, Benjamin Ciego, Mr. Martinez, Mr. Lopez (Master Willie), Mr. Cayetano and many, many more.
