In
the 1940’s my father was injured while alone at the
forest building a dory.
Buyei Baba Sandu (Santos Ramirez) learnt of the injury through his Spirit Helpers and immediately conveyed the message
to my mother. He also alerted my uncle and cousins suggesting that they
gathered some men to go in search of my dad. No telephones nor cellular-phones
were in the village at that time. The search party found my father bleeding
profusely. He was rescued in time.

Again,
in the 40’s Wallace Hyde was accused of shooting BiBi Shot while climbing a
coconut tree without the owner’s reasonable wish. Evidently the lifeless body
was dragged to the beach; a heavy ballast was tied around its neck and dumped
into the deep sea. In that homicide case
Buyei Baba Sandu assisted in the discovery of the evidence, the body of Vicente
Gotoy (BiBi Shot). He instructed the search team what to do after they had
given up the search. The men were to go back to the place where False Caye and
the Rum Point seemed to meet. Baba Sandu was sure that the body would be there.
So said, so done. Surely enough, the body, an iron-ballast around its neck,
surfaced as the search team arrived at the designated spot. Concrete evidence
for the murder case became available and the mystery was solved.

Two
mail carriers (Master Pad and Laute
Flores) were given a message in Placentia by John “Box” Norales to
tell Pilaya’s parents that their daughter had passed away in Dangriga. The only
means of transportation to Seine Bight then was by sea (Heron H.). It was late at night. After reaching the
village and on their way to the home of Pilaya they met Buyei Baba Sandu who asked them where they were going. After
they explained to him he responded saying, “Pilaya’s parents already know. I
just gave them the message – Erenganali houn.”

Christmas Thomas’ death occurred in Dangriga during a dügü. Before
Christmas left Seine Bight for Dangriga he was cautioned by Buyei Baba Sandu to
avoid playing the “Lanigi Gararon” in a dügü in which he was hired to play as a
master drummer. “Mafarabetia lanigi gararon. Duweitibu,” cautioned the
renowned Buyei. It is believed that Christmas didn’t die immediately after he
got into a trance. It was only after he was in the morgue that he actually
died. As soon as he passed away in Dangriga, Buyei Baba Sandu went to deliver
the sad news to the wife in Seine Bight a day or two before someone brought the
news to the village. His Spirit Helpers had informed him.
