The Central
Bank and the Government of Belize are pleased to announce the
appointment of Mr.Sydney Campbell as the new Governor of the
Central Bank of Belize. Mr. Campbell earned a Masters Degree
in Economics from Florida International University and has served
the Bank in various capacities over the last 22years. His last
post was that of Deputy Governor.
The new Deputy Governor will be Mr. Marion Palacio presently
Economist/ Statistical Analyst at the Bank providing real
time liaison with the international financial community.
Mr.
Palacio holds a Masters Degree in Statistics.
Present Deputy Governor Mrs. Yvette Alvarez will be joining
the International Financial Services Commission as Deputy
Director General. This sector plays a much greater role in
Belizes economy today and requires executive strengthening
to meet international demand.
These appointments will fortify our financial regulatory
and supervisory capacity and allow for upward mobility of
our young professionals at the Central Bank.
